The Second Evesham Bengeworth Scouts are an active Troop and are open to both male and female members who are aged between 10 ½-14 years old.
Scouts is the next step up from Cub Scouts and gives these young adults the chance to hone their skills at activities they have experienced before as well as the introduction to new ones.
Scouts will get the chance to do many different activities like swimming, camping, hiking, canoeing, rock climbing, as well as further exposure to cooking, music, exploring, collecting and community based activities.
At this age Scouts are encouraged to take an active part in the development of the activities schedule and can therefore influence the wide range of activities as part of the programme. "Participation" rather than meeting set standards is the key approach and for Scout who wants to be recognised for their achievements there are a number of Challenges Awards and Activity Badges that can be obtained in recognition of their efforts.
Scouts take part in a balanced programme that helps them to find out about the world in which they live, encourages them to know their own abilities and the importance of keeping fit and helps develop their creative talents. It also provides opportunities to explore their own values and personal attitudes.
Being outdoors is important and a significant proportion of the Programme is given over to taking part in both the traditional Scouting skills, such as camping, survival and cooking as well as the wide range of adventurous activities, anything from abseiling to yachting.
Scouting is about being with friends, as part of a team, participating fully in the adventure and experiencing the opportunities that life can offer.
