The Second Evesham & Bengeworth Beaver Scout Colony is a thriving group open to both boys and girls who are aged between 6 and 8 years.

Immediately recognizable by the distinctive turquoise sweatshirts, beaver scouts are the youngest section within the family of scouting.

Beaver Scouting is an introduction into the Scout Movement and where all scouts are introduced to number of life skills. But at this age it is principally about:

  • Having fun and making friends
  • Keeping the Promise
  • Sharing and working together in teams
  • Making progress and showing development in a number of skills

These key themes underpin all that is done in the Colony. Using a variety of methods, Beaver Scouts are guided to:

  • Learn about themselves
  • Get to know people
  • Explore
  • Care
  • Be creative

Leaders are encouraged to approach each of these areas in a variety of ways by including a variety of activities sometimes close to the Beaver Scouts' own experiences, sometimes based in the local community and sometimes introducing them to issues in the wider world.

For many young people Beaver Scouts can offer the opportunity, for the first time, to spend a night away from home in a secure environment such as a community or scouting centre.
